Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and psychotherapy and can help you to make beneficial changes in your life. It is future oriented; it does not involve analysing painful memories from the past. If you have experienced unpleasant events, we acknowledge they happened and help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

It is a collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen. Many people believe that Hypnotherapy is something that is “done” to them, that they explain their issue to the therapist who then simply hypnotises their problem away, as if by magic.

Focusing on solutions means we do not dwell on problems.

Instead we:

  • acknowledge where you are currently
  • identify where you want to be
  • help you to make the necessary changes

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy draws upon the latest developments in neuroscience, helping you to understand the role your brain plays in developing long lasting healthy behaviours.


What to expect

Initial Consultation

During this one hour session, I will gather some general information to find out more about you. We will discuss what you would like help with, how you would like things to be and any desired goals and outcomes. You will gain an insight into how the brain works in relation to emotions, e.g. feelings of depressions and anxiety, fears and phobias etc, and what you can do about this. I will also explain what trance and hypnosis is and what to expect from your sessions. No trance will take place in this session. You will have the opportunity to ask questions so that you are informed and comfortable about what is involved and how hypnotherapy can help. At the end of this session you will receive a free relaxation recording which you can listen to in between sessions. 

Hypnotherapy sessions

During the first part of each session we’ll talk about the progress you have made. Using a Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach, I’ll be encouraging you to express yourself positively, focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on problems. I’ll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. I’ll then guide you into a relaxed state of Hypnosis where your mind can focus, absorb and reflect on what has been discussed during your session.
